    Publicity - Trivia Night

Post  Carlo on Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:23 pm

Guys we really need to step up the publicity for the Trivia Night! It's important that EVERYONE knows it's on and how much fun it is (it's not enough just to let people know it's on - you have to make them want to go!). Because of the HSC, announcements are made at the beginning of Period 1 so can some people from SRC please make sure they publicise the event over the PA on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday AT THIS TIME - not before recess. Remember that all forms and payments are due by this Wednesday! I won't be at school attending class on all three days but I will be at the meeting on Monday to check up on things.

But also continue publicising in other ways - tell all of your friends, make it known through year meetings, someone should get the notice up on the daily notices, and if you guys could split up into roll call rooms again that'd be great!

The roll call allocation roster is available through the link below (this only applies for 2010 SRC Roll Call):

    https://i.servimg.com/u/f29/15/79/04/88/img11.jpg

Obviously Year 12 roll call classes can be disregarded.

    See you on Monday!

    It's on Friday 12th November
    5:00-7:00pm
$20 per table ($2.50 per person + pay as one payment)
The theme is countries of the world, so with your form, nominate a country you would like to come as!
Jelly, drinks, cupcakes will be sold.
There will be prizes for the top 3 places i think?
That's all I can think of at the top of my head. Smile

Haha it's okay! (Thanks Charmaine btw - I'll just add everything else)

    Details:

    5-7pm Friday 12 November
Only enough places for 10 teams of 8; Entry fee is $20 per table (or $2.50 per person)
Forms available outside the front office
Teams choose a country as their theme (if two teams choose the same country preference is given to team which has paid first)
Payment to be done in one go - due by Wednesday 27 October
Filled in forms to be placed in tray outside Rowe Staffroom by same day
Jelly ($1), drinks ($1.50) and cupcakes (various prices) will also be sold
Money raised from event going to a newly established sister school in Nepal.

Those are a lot of details - obviously if you're doing a PA announcement just say the important things. All of this information is also on the entry forms so as long as people know to pick up an entry form they will know all of the above. The only thing that you need to stress most importantly which is not done on the entry form is how much fun it's going to be, and why they should all go!

sorry for the third comment but i dont think the new src's should participate. most of them have joined the forum already and know what's going on at the night, including questions.

I think Chris meant are new SRCs helping organise this. To clear up confusion: YES new SRC will be ORGANISING the event with the old SRC. NO the new SRC members CANNOT participate in the trivia night, just as the old SRC members cannot. Hope that explains everything.

And that announcement is spot on, maybe include the fact that forms have to be in by Wednesday to get people moving? But otherwise great!

Do you guys still need stuff like jelly and cake and things? And who's going to make all the food for it?
And are we still telling other people about it in roll call or is that done already? Smile Like all the classroms? Cause then I know so I won't be late on that day HAHA.

Some people already brought cake mix but like Chris and Hannah have said, it's easier if people prepare the cupcakes at home and bring them in. But we will probably form a Food Committee who will make cupcakes out of the mixes we already have. In terms of jelly, though, keep bringing crystals in! The Food Committee will prepare that as well.

Also, as Year 10s have the School Certificate that week and Year 9s are going to be on camp, I'd really like to see Year 7s and 8s stepping up to do a lot of the work for the Trivia Night - it'll be a great help and will prepare you for the senior years of the SRC! Good on you Year 8 girls, try and recruit more people!

If you're publicising, that will have to happen on Monday and/or Tuesday and/or Wednesday. I won't be at roll call on all three days so you guys will have to figure out when you're going around together!

Do we need to bring anything?

Sorry this isn't related to trivia night , but do the new SRC's attend SRC roll call this term?

Hey guys. I made some posters for TRIVIA NIGHT.
Most of it is in colour, and i was wondering
would the office help print out some of them if i asked them to photocopy about 8 in colour?
    Neutral

    Veronica, you're a legend!
Try asking, it's definitely worth it.
STOP PRESS: 3 teams have registered for the trivia night so far! The countries are: Japan (a team of Year 10s), USSR (a team of Year 9s) and Spain (a team of Year 11s). Remember that - although these three teams have - teams don't have to only have members from one year group!
It is important that the other five team positions are filled! Keep publicising, there are only two days left. It might be a good incentive for others if you tell them there are prizes for first, second and third, and at the current number everyone who has registered is going to win a prize... ie there is no competition! In other words, any team that registers now has a good chance of getting a prize! (That's flawed logic but hopefully it will get a few more teams to register!)

Hey Carlo, could we push the deadline back 1 week because a lot of people have just now realised what this trivia night is because they got mixed up with a trivia night for parents

Yeah, I was thinking we'd have to push the deadline back, our publicity wasn't quick enough.

Let's say the deadline is now next Wednesday? Should that give people enough time?
